Nick personally inspects your entire roof – not just the obvious damage. We check ridge caps, valleys, flashings, gutters, chimney mortar, sarking condition and every tile. You receive an honest written report of exactly what's needed and why, with no pressure and no upselling.
We pressure-wash the entire roof surface at the correct pressure for your tile type – removing lichen, moss, algae and years of grime. This step is critical: paint or sealant applied over biological growth will fail prematurely. We also treat the surface with a bio-wash solution to prevent rapid regrowth.
We remove all old, cracked and loose mortar bed from every ridge cap using angle grinders and chisels. The ridge cap tiles are lifted and inspected – cracked or damaged caps are replaced. A fresh cement mortar bed is then applied correctly, and the ridge caps re-laid at the correct angle with proper overlap. This is the most critical step in restoring a leaking Melbourne roof.
Once the new mortar bed has cured, we apply premium flexible polymer pointing compound (flexi-point) over the entire ridge. Unlike rigid cement-only repointing, flexible polymer expands and contracts with Melbourne's temperature extremes – preventing cracking for significantly longer. We also fit pointing collars around all ridge cap ends for a professional, weather-tight finish.
Roof valleys carry the highest water volume on any roof. We replace corroded valley iron and broken valley tiles, installing a heavy-duty waterproof membrane underneath before relaying valley iron. Clean, correctly-pitched gutters are essential for roof longevity.
Once all repairs are complete and the roof surface is fully dry, we apply a quality roof primer/sealer coat to penetrate and consolidate the tile surface. This is followed by two coats of premium roof membrane paint in your chosen colour. We use professional-grade roof coatings formulated for Melbourne's UV exposure, temperature extremes and high rainfall – not the cheaper products sold at hardware stores.
For terracotta tile roofs, we apply Terraglaze – a specialist ceramic-based sealer and colour restorer designed specifically for terracotta.
